Mike36 Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 Two choices, find a Borg Warner overdrive fron a newer Mopar, or change the rear axle. Many use Jeep Cherokee or Ford Explorer. Overdrive is easier, but can be hard to find and expensive to buy because of popularity. Use the search function at top of page for detailed information. Ask questions, lots of help on this site. 1 Quote
casper50 Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 There's an overdrive in the "For Sale" section here. Quote
allbizz49 Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 T5 and cherokee 3:55 rear end. Quote
48hoopty Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 I chose the explorer 8.8 out of a 2002. Upgrade to rear disc (already have front) also makes working on brakes cheaper and easier. Gear is 3.73 so I can get freeway speed without the little 6 banger screaming. Its going in this weekend. Also moves the E brake to the axle instead of the drive shaft. The brake tool is spendy and for what it costs you can buy the rear, spring pads, replace the seals, calipers, rotors, brake pads and ebrake shoes and still have enough to take the better half out for a nice dinner to celebrate.
