Mopar Wayne Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 Hey everyone. I found a 47 Plymouth Deluxe parts car that I can get. I have a 48 Dodge Custom. Will all the body panels, with the exception of the hood work? Also it appears to be a different radiator. Are the engines the same? Mine is a fluid drive and this is a standard 3 speed. Everythin that I need looks like it will work, but before I decide I thought I would ask the pro's. Quote
busycoupe Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 The Dodge has a longer wheel base. I do not believe any of the body panels will interchange. The Plymouth engine should be a 218 cu. in., the Dodge is a 230. The Plymouth engine would fit in your Dodge, but will not bolt up to the fluid drive. It may be possible to install the Plymouth engine and transmission in the , Dodge, but you may need to have a custom length driveshaft made. Many of the bolt on parts could be used, starter, generator fuel pump, water pump, intake and exhaust manifolds, etc. The wheels and brake shoes and backing plates are smaller on the Plymouth. Amazingly there is not a lot that can be used directly. You should look at what you specifically need. Quote
casper50 Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 (edited) True. Plymouth and Dodge body parts don't intermix. Edited October 6, 2017 by casper50 Quote
Mopar Wayne Posted October 6, 2017 Author Report Posted October 6, 2017 Thanks all! As usual you saved my bacon. If I can get it cheap enough I still may grab it up. Quote
