Rez Erected Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 i'm putting glass in my 48 and need any suggestions on how to do it. I tried watching videos on you tube but the only one i see is a 41 plymouth front door and it's not the same as my back doors which don't have the extra room from the vent windows. Quote
bob westphal Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 You didn't mention whether you have a 4dr. or what. The back window R&R are about same as the front on a 4dr. The club coupe is a little harder. The clips, regulator and so on are similar. You will probably need to remove the felts to allow the window assembly to come out. Quote
Rez Erected Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 I have a 4 door. Is there a trick to getting the clips to snap on the window regulators to the channel. They're a circle with a piece of metal that clamps on the metal end of the regulator to hold channel to the regulator. It slides on a groove in the regulator then slides in place but ti's real hard to do inside the limited space of the door. an tips? Quote
MarcDeSoto Posted October 4, 2017 Report Posted October 4, 2017 Good question. I took my left door window out on my 48 DeSoto business coupe and I know it will be hard to put that clip back on because I will have to work blind. I'm going to practice putting it on the regulator before I put the window back in. If any of your windows are broken or cracked, it would be good to get new old stock window frame and roller assemblies. Trying to take glass out of those frames is dangerous and difficult!!! Quote
Rez Erected Posted October 4, 2017 Author Report Posted October 4, 2017 do you know where i can get a window channel for the front driver's side door of a four door 48 plymouth p-15 special deluxe? mine is rusted beyond repair and i've been watching on ebay but haven't found one. I have a parts listing catalog that says desotos, chryslers, dodges and plymouths all use the same parts in their 4 door cars so they're interchangeable if i can find one of them. I might have to have one made. I learned that the clip has a groove it goes into and then pushes on in the groove to set the locking clasp over the regulator. It's hard when in the door because you can't see it, not as easy as when its not in the door. I practiced putting it on before trying in the door, i got it in. Quote

Busted_Knuckles Posted February 2, 2018 Report Posted February 2, 2018 Well I hope your former owner wasn't a knucklehead like the guy who owned mine who decided to glue or shall I say cenet the windshield divider in place, guess how long it took before I heard the painful crack the glass is completely shot but still an awful sound Quote
