HotRodTractor Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 Several years ago I picked up a 251 engine for parts (turns out it has no compression to speak of in most holes) - anyway attached to it is this fluid drive transmission with some solenoid cans hanging off of it. Help me out - what is it and what did it come out of? Quote
Andydodge Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 Whats the engine number on the drivers side of the block?.........assuming that the engine/trans are a unit which they look like they have been..........andyd Quote
dpollo Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 Looks like 51 to 53 Chrysler with the M6 semi automatic and Fluid drive. Quote

I can look tonight when I am home and in the shop. 9 hours ago, dpollo said: Looks like 51 to 53 Chrysler with the M6 semi automatic and Fluid drive. M6 would make sense. I poked around looking for some pictures and I think this is probably correct. So do I understand correctly that the M6 has a "high range" and a "Low range" and then can shift between two gears in each range just by some throttle pedal motion (push down all the way, or lift off)? dpollo Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 You are correct about the operation of the but the transmission but the shifts are also regulated by a governor and a kick down circuit, Quote
