Wayf 51 Posted June 13, 2017 Report Posted June 13, 2017 Hello all, My 1951 Wayfarer is still 6 volt and has factory directionals but someone has done some rewiring: they replaced the rear sockets and wire-nutted the old and new wires together. The left turn lights work fine but the right ones stop clicking when the brakes are applied. Where should I start looking? Thanks for your thoughts. Fred Quote
busycoupe Posted June 13, 2017 Report Posted June 13, 2017 A bad ground will cause the symptom you describe. Clean and check all of the connections and the ground connection to the right light socket. 1 Quote
dpollo Posted June 14, 2017 Report Posted June 14, 2017 (edited) Busy coupe has it right. The tail light inner housing relies on bolts from the back to hold it in place and provide a ground. A quick fix is to remove the lens and drill a small hole through the back and insert a self tapping screw which will bite into the metal of the fender. A better fix is to run a ground wire and secure a ground in the trunk compartment where moisture should not be a problem. Edited June 17, 2017 by dpollo spelling error Quote
