This is a reminder that even thought your old car sounds and seems like it runs fine, regular maintence is a good idea. Just finished a tune-up on my '63 Ford (sorry not a mopar) Fairlane with the original 260 V8 (95,000 miles). Last had plug wires in '79. Last tune-up was in '85 and about 15,000 miles ago. Used to drive it everyday but it became a summer driver a long time ago and has always seemed to run well. However, when I took it out a few times over the last month, it seemed sluggish and missed a bit under acceleration. Figured it needed a tune-up so got all the parts needed and just completed the work. Well, it feels like I just put a new engine in there. It really didn't seem that it ran badly but I guess they deteriorate slowly but the tune-up is noticeably different. Gonna do the '48 Dodge D25 Club Coupe next as it is showing the same signs. Also plan to do the carbs on both cars over the winter as they have not seen work in a long time. So, if you've been feeling like you should maybe be doing a tune-up, it is probably time.
