wayfarerstranger Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 i`m givingup on my tranny ever going back in my 50 wayfarer conv, i`m going just pull the engine then maybe i can get back on .. is there anyway not to have a fluid drive on this 50 dodge ? is there such a thing as a stanard 3 spd for dodges ?? i really hate this thing ,,did all dodges have fluid drive ?? wanted to put a rebuilt 54 ply engine & 3 spd i have in it but ross horton tells me the bell housing won`t match to the cross member ? will anything fit besides this damn fluid drive , they maybe ok but not when u have to tear into them to replace the clutch and related parts .. a little more difficult than the stanard plymouth 3 spd .. any ideas from our ply/dodge gurus out there ??/ Quote
1just4don Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 ...a proper supervisor!! Thats it,,,check with your wife or girlfriend, bribe with right kind of beverage and furnish the proper comfy chair for them,,,they will come!! Works if you appropreatly bribe your neighbor, kid, or work pal to arm strong it up there for ya!! and you hold the bearing in while they are lifting. Maybe have them bring there handy dandy floor jack along!! And like Don said,,,tuck the tail end up and over first, then slide forward. Might not have to 'hold' it all up by yourself that way,,the cross will support at least half of the weight and the guide bolts the other half till you get close any way!! What ever you do,,,keep the fluid drive,,,best invention since sliced bread!! Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 I see you are in Madison. Tennessee. Is this your car? Quote

Don Coatney Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Chance; You should have identified yourself. I will come up and give you a hand in a couple of weeks. I am currently out of town and when I return home next weekend I will be heading North to Indiana for the following week. When I return from that trip I can pay you a visit. Quote
