Just looked at 1941 Plymouth 4 door today that has a solid body but needs all new interior, brakes, bumpers, several trims parts and most likely engine work. The asking price is $6,000.00. I would only look at this as an investment that would have the potential to get my money back after making it a driver.

Am I wrong to think that $6K is too high of starting point?

That does sound high. For that much you might find a fixable driver. As far as investment value, it takes a lot of spending to get a car into high dollar resale shape.

From a strictly investment stand, I don't think these vintage Mopars are a good way to make money.

For most people, the Hemi holds some interest, but not so much the stodgy flat six and neither is a big seller in a more-door unless maybe a limo or something.

Kinda glad. Prices in this hobby are getting too high.

I think for most makes and models, though, the guy who actually hauls it in from the barn and does the work makes the least money if any. And if his labor is factored in, he loses his shirt.

Old Cars publishes a price guide every year which is costly, about $25.00, but it lists every car that you can think of. For that 41 4 door to be worth $6,000 it would need to be a cruise in show car. Most cars in the cruise in that everyone is proud of are usually #3 cars by the judging standards. A #1 is fresh from the restoration shop with a correct nut and bolt restoration, better than factory new.
