Don Coatney Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 Floor or column shift? Is your clutch pedal adjusted correctly with 1" of free travel before you feel resistance? Quote
weasel Posted August 27, 2016 Author Report Posted August 27, 2016 It is a floor shift. The clutch starts engaging about 1 1/2 " off the floor. Quote
John U Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 Years back when mine was stock it was a three on the tree it did that mine was the lower mount on the column in the engine bay broke loose I welded it back on and tighten every thing and it worked great for years Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 It is a floor shift. The clutch starts engaging about 1 1/2 " off the floor. Not where it engages off the floor but how far down do you have to push the pedal down before you feel resistance? Free play. Quote
weasel Posted August 28, 2016 Author Report Posted August 28, 2016 It is a couple inches before you feel any pressure. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 It is a couple inches before you feel any pressure. That is acceptable. No free play is not good. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 If it's a top loader trans... Possibly a shift cover with weak shift rail springs and worn balls or has worn trans parts internally. Read your shop manual. 1 Quote
BigDaddyO Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 First off, check your transmission fluid level. Quote
