coW52Dodge Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) I'd like to replace my wheel cylinders on my 1/2 ton pilothouse. The truck has 11" brakes in the back with two cylinders on each side, one top and one bottom. I prefer to not go the Dorman route: On replacing all of them not too crazy long ago, I found three are weeping and one is bleeding fluid. They are cheaper but clearly have an issue. I happened to have one of the old Dorman boxes and it tells me they cross to a WC1058X so it leads me to believe that the Raybestos WC10580 WC10581 WC10582 WC10583 are the cylinders I need. However, the vendor sites that have a 'vehicle compatibility check' tell me they won't fit the truck - maybe they all draw from the same database and they are all wrong? I just want to make sure. Could someone tell me what the part numbers are? Thanks! Rem Edited August 8, 2016 by coW52Dodge Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) are you using the compatibility chart often found with an E-bay placed ad...? I have found these to be not only wrong most of the time but totally annoying. I have placed exact specification (tires for instance, engine mounts as another) for some vehicles and get the NOT COMPATABLE really frustrating. While I have no interest in this company, never done business with them etc.....I will paste this link as a source that will verify your number submitted should be correct.... http://hagensautoparts.com/dodge+-+truck/9-brake/2794 Edited August 8, 2016 by Plymouthy Adams Quote
coW52Dodge Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 Thanks you for that link! I see they have the same 1058X numbers so they must be the ones I need. Appreciate the confirmation, PA. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) I really don't want to burst your bubble and hope that this may not the case in your parts, but I bought Wagner brand and have also bought Bendix recently, both top bran names of the era...only to have the parts arrived bagged and marked as such with the company logo but clearly marked as Made in China.. My Wagner brake cylinders are doing fine after a good number of years and the Bendix rebuild kits are doing equally well might I add...the industry standard of same part number but often a suffix or prefix difference is the only difference in the part and they are usually sourced back to one or maybe two offshore manufacturers. It is the nature of the beast....... I gave my local big box store the opportunity to get these parts...they can get them overnight and not have to wait forever from a mail order...they can often match the price and brand name of your request and lastly if there is an error they are local and you have an immediate recourse for product satisfaction....I also have an account with a local big box and can order from my phone without prepaying..read this as one trip to get parts instead of two....I get discount in form of coupons and of course military retired....I like to push support for you locals where possible... coW52Dodge Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 I hear you there and rather buy local as well, if given a choice. If it is made in the US, I don't mind paying more for it - it tends to be higher quality and prefer to keep the money here. Thanks again! Quote
