Richie15 Posted January 19, 2016 Report Posted January 19, 2016 Has anyone done a seat cover kit? Such as what Roberts, Bernbaum or others that offer kits to recover your '39-'47 Mopar truck seat. Prices don't look too bad and offer all the materials to complete the job. Just wondering if the cover is satisfied and possibly "looks" the original cover. Thanks, I have the springs stripped and ready to POR-15 them then look to do the seat. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 19, 2016 Report Posted January 19, 2016 I used the kit from Roberts for the seat in my truck. It's not the same series as yours, but I'm sure the kits are similar. It fit well and looked OK, but didn't have much for padding under the cover. There was a thin matting material to put over the springs. After dealing with it for a few years I finally took it to an upholstery shop. He removed the cover and added another inch or so of foam padding and reinstalled the Roberts cover. Now the seat is great. Merle 2 Quote

Richie15 Posted January 20, 2016 Author Report Posted January 20, 2016 http://www.pilothouseinteriors.com/ I just got off the phone with John in Arkansas-he seems focused on quality products (I was trying my best to get him into '39-'47) too. Thanks Quote
wings515 Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 I used the set from Roberts about 10 years ago and it fit fine on my PT81. Don't know if they are still using the same supplier. I would suggest adding some foam cushion in addition to the horse hair filler. I find I can "feel" the springs in the seat bottom. Quote
