52B3B108 Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 Is there supposed to be a gasket or o-ring on the fill cap for the master cylinder? I found what appears to be an old paper gasket that has pretty much disintegrated when I took the cap off. There is a rounded groove between the threads and the top of the cap that looks like would accept an o-ring. I looked in the parts book and it doesn't show anything needed. Just checking. Quote
lscrymgeour Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 I had mone off the other day and there is no gasket on it. Not sure however if there is supposed to be one or not. Lyle Quote
62rebelP23 Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 when i got my reman MC, it had a cheap plastic cap on it. i'd like to replace it with something better, but what? is there a brass cap or the like available? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Truck M.C. is a bit different, although the cap may be the same. The page from my service manual looks like a pipe plug, but my Napa M.C. has a cap with a gasket under it. As I recall, that's how the old one was too. Quote
52B3B108 Posted July 7, 2007 Author Report Posted July 7, 2007 Well, it won't cost much to try an o-ring and see if it does the trick. I don't know if the master cylinder is leaking or it's the oil from the filter can above it. Quote
