We have a barn find 1941 Dodge Luxery Liner that has the Sisson electric choke. We have it running, but the terminal where the electric wire attaches to the mechanical starter switch on the starter is missing. Does anyone have an extra? Or maybe an image of what we are missing? Part number?

Our starter switch has a copper? eyelet in the side of the starter switch where it appears that this terminal would go. But it is just an empty hole.

 Any help very much appreciated!

 Thanks,

I have the same setup onmy 39 Desoto.  On the starter switch you need to run a wire 14gage and connect it at the hole in the starter selinoid that is on the side that you mentioned in your post. Then run this wire behind the back of the head and connect to the Sisson choke where the little screw is on the top of the choke,  Also follow the setup instructions that you should have in you repair manual. There isa copper plate that is under the starter switch and this is where you willmake you connection.

The choke will bet engaged via the electrical wire everytime you start the car.  Also DO NOT bend the metal plate that is under the choke and also you willneed a gasket under the body of the choke where is sits on the manifold.

We have the wire & the metal brackets that attach to the headbolts for routing the wire. The issue we have is: exactly what is it that goes in that hole on the starter switch? and where do we get it? also a source for the contact that goes inside the starter switch?

These two items are what we are looking for. After hours of searching, we still haven't found an image of them.

 Thanks again for your time,

What is the starter switch?  Is this a floor-mounted switch?  Maybe a pre-war thing?

My post-war DeSoto has a starter button on the dash, and the solenoid at the starter.  The starter solenoid has four posts:  a heavy post for the end of the battery cable: a heavy post connected to the starter windings (these two posts get connected when the solenoid is actuated); a post that gets the start signal from the starter button to actuate the solenoid; and another post to ground the solenoid windings.

On my post-war car, the Sisson choke wire connects to the heavy post that goes to the starter windings, so that when the starter is running the choke partially closes the choke plate (the rest of the closing depends on engine temperature).  When the starter stops running, the Sisson choke reverses its action.

a srew goes into the hole. There isa metal copper bracket that sits under the starter switch and bolts to the stater body.  If you unbolt the starter switch and this switch is control by the starter floor push rod. lift off the starter switch and you will see the bracket. and there will be a small tab that has a threaded hole for the screw that goes through the hole on the side of the starter switch.

That is the answer we've been searching for! I took a flashlight & a mirror & looked in the eyelet hole on the side of the mechanical starter switch, thats mounted to the starter & I can see the threaded tab inside!.

 Thank You so very much!

Now to get this thing hooked up....
