1951 B-Series Starter and Ignition

I'm currently trying to get a 51 b series going and all I need to do is hook up the cables from the battery to the starter(foot starter), but all there is, is a spot right in front of the lever I'm assuming for the positive. Am I correct on this?

Second I don't have the key for the ignition and I was wondering if I could cut the wires and install a toggle switch?

Any answers appreciated

Welcome to the world of Dodge Pilot-House trucks, Ktvacho. Assuming all is stock you need to connect the Negative battery terminal to the stud on your starter. This should be a Positive Ground system unless it was converted at one time. Also be sure you are using heavy duty cables (1 ga. minimum) I prefer 0 or 00 gauge.

Yes, on the ign switch. You can do a temporary switch by wiring in a toggle switch between the Bat and Ign wires. Since there is no start function in the ignition switch you only need to provide power to the coil for now. If you wish to run accessories off of it too, they could also be wired in, or run off of a separate toggle switch.

Good luck, and by the way... where in 'sconsin are you located?
