Does anyone have a source for the rubber grommets that the headliner hoops go inside of? Got some missing and the rest are as hard as nails.

1949 Coronet 2 dr.

thx for your time.

You might try McMaster-Carr. I needed new ones for my 1948 P15, and I'm sure that's where I got them.(It was a few years ago) Just measure your old ones and match up the size. I don't remember the stock number I ordered, but they worked out just fine, and they ship quickly.

When the old rubber tire valves are removed , the base of the old stem might fit . They often break apart anyway when removed from the tire rim . I could be wrong as I had heard something about this several years ago . If they are the right size , they should be free at the tire stores .

I found something real close in the faucet  replacement parts in the plumbing department of the hardware store for my P-15. Not very expensive either.

What I did was measure with a caliper the size of the opening in the body and the diameter of the headliner support. After that I was able to find grommets that did the job. As I recall the large diameter was 5/8 inch and the small diameter was 5/16 inch. Steele Rubber sells grommets in many sizes and should be able to provide one that will work for you. Check out their web site on page 10.

thx, the 5/16" ID was too small, the rods rotated real easily. I found a 1/4" ID 3/4" "hole" that I think will work on McMaster Carr. Should have them today and will let you guys know if they work..      thanks for "all" the recommendations
