cerick305 Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 Don, finally got around to doing this today. I do think I have the clutch now set perfectly or as perfect as I ever had it. However, on occasion, it has major problems getting into 2nd and 3rd gear. Not a grinding issue more of it feels like I'm going to break off the gear shifter if I try to force it anymore. This isn't a problem that just started after adjusting the clutch, but an ongoing problem that I thought would be resolved once I had the clutch set perfectly. The gear shift arm does seems stiff, or at least to me it does. Can something be going on with the gear shift arm and connections? Another observation, when I don't have the clutch pressed, there is a very very slight humming sound that goes away once I press down the clutch petal. Thanks again for any help you or anyone else has to offer. Quote
greg g Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 Check your rear motor mounts. If they are crumbled to nothing they will cause binding of the shifter linkage. Check all the bushings in the linkage also for worn and missing pieces. the shifter forks really do not need to move very far to effect the shift, so most binding is likely because of wear between the steering column and the trans, or miss alignment due to incorrect engine position in the chassis.
