Jim Dohr Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Nothing at idle but bad thumping when accelerating. Oil level correct. Any ideas? Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Does the noise change after the engine is totally warmed up? What's the oil pressure after warm and at idle? Quote
Tom Skinner Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Jim, Get the plugs outa that baby and run a compression test. If its not right break er down and fix her. To run it like that is to risk further engine damage if something is not right inside, like pistons, rings, bearings, or ETC. Good luck! Tom Quote
Todd B Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Sounds like timing is not properly adjusted "Spark knock", or use high octane "SHELL" fuel. My trucks run like crap with anything else. My 2 pennys Todd B Quote
IanT_Qld Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 What rating is high octane fuel in the USA? In Oz we have 95 and 98 (RON?). I have read that numerous people on this forum are running unleaded in flat heads with no modification or adverse effect. (Now that my leaky carb and radiator holes are fixed, I will have to fill it up with fuel next) Quote
