Dozerman51 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Hello Darkrider, Your B1-D does indeed have 11" x 2" brakes in the front, and 14&1/8" x 2' in the rear. Do you have any Idea what the third member ratio is on your truck? The ratio will be either 4.89, 4.30 or the rare 3.91. Ratio is stamped on the rectangular pad found below the filler plug and re-enforcement rib on the third member. May have to really wire brush it to reveal the stamped numbers. I am not sure as to what ratio it has at the moment but thanks for the info as to how to find out!. I will be working on the truck again in the spring hopefully so i can search out that info when i am near it again. It is currently parked at a friends acreage. Quote

As i understand things now the 218/230 are a 23" block and the Canadian version of the engines are a 25" block...So on that note...i am assuming that when i am looking at parts such as headers and intakes i would look at parts for the 25" Chrysler/Desoto block correct? Dozerman51 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Yes you are correct in your assumption, although you have to remember that all Canadian built motors whatever the CI displacement is, are going to be 25" blocks. Thickness of lining is as follows: front wheel ..3/16". rear Wheel ..1/4". Length of lining: Front wheel-front shoe ..11&5/64", Front wheel rear shoe ..7&11/16". Rear wheel both shoes ..14&1/2". Again, these are the specs for my truck, but I would suspect that yours are the same or very close to these. Hope this info helps you out. Farm truck with a tough past. First thing I ran into was the tire issue. Did you end up keeping your original wheels with the split ring (not split rim)? I had to educate a couple of tire shops here, but will have to do any tire work myself. This old girl needs a complete rebuild of everything in the drive line, including replacement of a few broken leaf springs on the front and rear. Still looking for replacement leaves and coming up short. Cheers! Quote

I actually ended up selling this truck a few years ago and its cab got swapped onto a 1993 Gmc Sierra 1/2 ton chassis which essentially gave it new life on a more up to date suspension and drivetrain.
