plymouthcranbrook Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Not to worry, another one will be along. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted February 11, 2015 Author Report Posted February 11, 2015 funny you should say that, a '47 Dodge came up on Craigslist not too awful far away, but the seller already describes it as "rusty"... on Craigslist, "rusty" equals "nothing between the bottom of the dash and the ground". 62rebelP23 Posted February 11, 2015 Author Report Posted February 11, 2015 of the two pics he posted, one showed flashing tape on the rear quarters at the decklid upper corners.... thinking there might be some holes there. it is a Fluid Drive, though; the decklid ornament shows it. thinking most Dodges had it at the time. BobT-47P15 Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 I'm not an expert............but I think ALL 46-48 Dodges had Fluid Drive. Quote
Captain Neon Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 I once asked a guy on eBay when the Fluid Drive was added to his '47 Plymouth. He said it came factory. Either he didn't really have Fluid Drive and had no idea what it is, or he had Fluid Drive and didn't know it wasn't a factory option for Plymouth. Reminds me of a co-worker that told me he knew a guy with a Hemi 'Cuda with a factory original 318, and knew where there was a '68 Charger like it was a '48 Tucker or something. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted February 12, 2015 Author Report Posted February 12, 2015 i haven't researched it, but maybe all Dodges had it. My great-Grandfather's coupe had it, because i can remember it being the only car with a clutch my Mom would drive without making a hash of it.... i was only two years old, Pop had just bought his last new car, a '64 Ford custom 300 with straight six and three on the tree; he let her drive the Dodge some before it ended up resigned to the back field. i blame that car for my fanatic love of old cars in general... mohair and natural rubber, steel and enamel, chrome and stainless..... BobT-47P15 Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 Plymouth, being the cheapest model between Chrysler, DeSoto and Dodge.........only had a regular 3 speed manual with normal dry clutch. At least until the mid 1950s when some automatic and semi automatic trannys were added. All the other 3 had fluid drives in some form. Quote
