mvance1944 Posted December 31, 2014 Report Posted December 31, 2014 Is the front axel inter changeable on B series p/u's? I have an axel off a 1950 B series truck that I would like to install on my '53 B truck Thanks Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted December 31, 2014 Report Posted December 31, 2014 Watch out for king pin diameter's. 1951 and up are bigger. 1 Quote
Larry Leibhart Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 I think the change was actually made in the middle of the 1950 B2B series. 1 Quote
MBF Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 The axles themselves are interchangeable. I've got one from a 53 under the front of my 49. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 Yep, I've got a 51 1/2 ton axle under my 50 1 ton... Was an exact fit. I needed the smaller spindle size for the front disc conversion Quote
mvance1944 Posted January 2, 2015 Author Report Posted January 2, 2015 Thanks to everyone with your comments. The only difference that I see is the king pin holes in the 1950 front axel are smaller in diameter than the '53 front axel. I guess that I could ream the holes out to fit the '53 king pins and spindles. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks! Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 No... you cannot ream out the king pin bushings for a larger KP. Quote
MBF Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Why not just rebuild the '50 axle w the '50 spindles? Quote
