Guest Larry Blodgett Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Does anyone have any suggestions on what's the best way to hook up a 6v motor to a converted 12v system? I've tried a voltage drop down to 6v but can't get the wiper motor or a accessory fan to turn. My mechanic hooked them both up directly but the fan moves way too fast and the wiper motor worked for awhile but doesn't now. Is there a way to make the fan verable? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I've never tried the inverters but I did read that they are not recommended on any type of motor. They are usually for things like the radio, etc. I'm still running 6 volts in my coupe but wanted to add a retractable radio antenna. Thats when I found out they did not work on anything motorized. Plymouthy Adams Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I think the dropping resistor you need goes by the name RUNTZ...check it out on the net....the voltage will surge at first turn on, allows fast spin up then adjusts the voltage..the motors can take this surge without a problem. Quote
