Norm's Coupe Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Not sure either Tim. Don't think that is running boards though. I think it may be a 42 Black Out model. The stainless trim and bumper looks like it may be painted. Quote
old mopar fan Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 It looks like the 48 D24 in my drive way. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 D24 was my first thought while looking over the pic's last week but like you, I couldnt zoom in enough to tell either. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Guys, Check out the rear door window and the rear quarter window. I thought D24's had a straight rear door window. I thought 42 - 48 Dodge originally because of the rear fender stainless. However, Ford had that too, could it be a Ford? Body styles between Mopar's and Ford for those years were very similar. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Norm, just took a look at a pic of my car, slanted back window, just like in the picture. Dont think it's a Ford, only because I've learned to look at the back hump which on a Ford seems to have more of a hump to it and doesnt level off any for the trunk like our mopars. Dont remember if Ford had the rear suicide door as this Mopars do. The painted window trim is what has me curious since you cant see the door and tell if it's a Dodge or a Plymouth. Quote
james curl Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I don't think that it's a D24 because I dont see the fadeaway front fenders. Could be a 41 or 42 Dodge. Quote

Ed, I did go back and look in the profiles after making that post. That's when I found out the windows were slanted after all. Can you tell I haven't looked at that many 4 door 40's Mopars? However, I still think it may be a 42 blackout model. Also, look at the tip of the hood. Seems to be slated back toward the windshield a little (or is that my eye sight). Think early 40's Mopar's had that slant. Don't think it's older than a 42 though because of the rear fender. Believe the 41's and older had a higher wheel opening in the rear fenders. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 Gentlemen, I give a vote for D24 - Mine D24 Custom Sedan looks the same in every detail. Note the vertical fender trims, the wide stainless trim on the runningboard "lip", waist like is high and braced by wide trim. It's lacking the '41-'42 fin like tail lights... The wagon wheel covers the rear end of the front fender, but what I can see the front fender is shaped like d24. ...a beauty... sigh! Quote
