1950 dodge 1/2 ton,3-speed transmission,pops out of first gear-what's wrong?

I found that a slight adjustment to the gear linkage fixed an issue that I had a while back with my truck popping out of second gear.

It's most likely the length of rod 19-47-2 and 19-47-10 swivel. Also 19-46-3 has some adjustability. I'ts a "Foolaroundwithit" thing where you increase 1/4" then decrease by 1/2" in the other direction to facilitate adjustments 1/4" inch at a time. It's one of those things that either gets better or gets worse till you figure it out the way to go

Pages 224 and 225 of the Plymouth Service Manual has a thorough explanation.  In short (a)misalignment, (B) excessive wear. Other gears more issues.

Thanks for responses, but I tried adjusting the linkages as described, made sure the transmisssion bolts had not losened up. Did change the transmission fluid, have magnetic drain plug, and found large amount of metal shavings. I'm assuming gear wear? Does any one sell a rebuilt 3speed,B2B transmission(C-39701 stamped on the passenger side of trans), gears for rebuild, or other???.Saw Andy Bernbaum has gasket set, case bearing, main drive pinion and reatrans seal.... but nothing about gears??? Any help appreciated!

I had good luck with Northwest Transmissions in Winchester, Ohio. 800-327-1955.  A little closer than the California shop suggested by Hank if you wanted to ship the trans to them as I did for a complete rebuild.

Thanks for the replies.  I found a shop locally that says they can rebuild it, so I am going to give them a try.
