WOW!! Awesome photos with the dirt and all. It takes years to get that true barn find look and character. Thanks for sharing. So Lucky to find it so very complete too! I hope you were able to get a hold of the title.

yup. got the title to. i was thinking of getting this book. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Book-The-Official-12-Volt-Conversion-Guide,2867.html

not sure what i would have to do to convert to a 12 volt negative ground. i want a newer radio and bright head lights because i plan on driving her to watch races at the local track and they dont get done till well after dark

I have 6 volt halogen headlights that are as bright as modern 12 volt cars use.  Volkswagens used them through the sixties and they are not expensive or hard to get.

When i bought my 6 volt halogen headlights , Summit Racing had the best price . You don't need to mention Volkswagen when ordering as the lights fit a lot of different vehicles . And yes , they are as bright as 12 volt . I think the part number is 6006H.  edit ; others say H6006.

rebuilt the carb, cleaned out and painted the gas tank and made some tank straps but they are a bit to long so i will have to shorten them. got a new 6 volt battery and new battery cables. hopefully i can get her started tomorrow. the rear springs are incredibly shot, the worst i have ever seen so i will be ordering those soon. got a universal radiator from speedway that i will have to make fit yet and do the breaks yet to.
