I have also switched it on at times in the summer when the engine compartment gets hot. Without a heat shield over my fuel pump it would have problems pumping when sitting still and getting a lot of heat from the manifold. If I switched on the electric pump it would help feed fresh fuel to, and through, the mechanical pump and the engine would run better. Merle Quote
