I pulled the old "Champ" disposable filter off the beater 54 parts car.  Plugged the ports and put in National brand 5w-30 and a bottle of the blue colored STP oil addative for the ZDDP. 

 

For the 54 model year, Plymouth offered a micronic oil filter "standard" on the Belvedere and Savoy models....so that left the Plaza dirty.

zddp is not needed unless you are breaking in a new engine..granted it will not hurt..

The big reason is due in part that the oil filter was sludge, and the oil probably had not been changed in many years.  I just hate for anything to loosen up!
