54Illinois Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 I pulled the old "Champ" disposable filter off the beater 54 parts car. Plugged the ports and put in National brand 5w-30 and a bottle of the blue colored STP oil addative for the ZDDP. For the 54 model year, Plymouth offered a micronic oil filter "standard" on the Belvedere and Savoy models....so that left the Plaza dirty. Quote

54Illinois Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 zddp is not needed unless you are breaking in a new engine..granted it will not hurt.. The big reason is due in part that the oil filter was sludge, and the oil probably had not been changed in many years. I just hate for anything to loosen up! Quote
