Powerhouse Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) Howdy all, Just wondering if anyone new what flat 6 chrysler product had a serial number starting with N and ending in what looks like CAL? See the photo attached. I didn't see anything on the link here: http://www.t137.com/registry/help/otherengines/otherengines.php Thanks. Edited September 23, 2013 by Powerhouse Quote
TodFitch Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Looks to me like the original engine number was ground off and this new number stamped in. See how the raised area around the freeze/core/welch plug just below the engine number boss has been hit with a grinder? I'm guessing it is a rebuilder's number but which rebuilder I couldn't say. jcmiller Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 I think that tag next to the VIN is a sign that it is a factory replacement engine. See page 3 of this judging guide. The guide discusses Model 220 and yours says Model 219, but the guide says other replacement engines were issued. It looks like there are some other numbers on the VIN pad that were not completely ground off. You might be able to get those by putting a piece of paper on it and shading with a pencil. Powerhouse Posted September 24, 2013 Author Report Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) OK. Thanks guys! Model 219...I wonder what the difference is? Or the builder? My friend was able to get me some more shots. The date stamp down by the filler tube is 46. And the head number is the same as a 218 I have but ends in 7 instead of 8. so I guess it's a 218. he wil be testing it through the plug at back of head fro stroke later. Thanks.
