Anybody here knowing the weight of a 201 (or 218/230) cui Plymouth engine, complete with starter, generator etc? I'm also wondering about the weight of the complete engine and manual gearbox together.

If memory serves me correct the engine is around 800# and a three speed tranny around 75#. If the engine has the clutch housing on it  add another 200#. These figures are NOT official and may be a ways off.

Estimated total: 1075 #'s.

Well, I may be incorrect...but it's my understanding that the engine weighs in the neighborhood of 600+ lbs.  And I agree that the transmission weighs about 75 lbs. (seems like much more when you're trying to re-install it).  And Pflaming is probably in the ballpark with the bellhousing/clutch assembly included.  But this is all an estimate on my part.  More knowledgeable folks may have differing opinions.

If memory serves, a fully dressed 218 with truck bell and top loader 3 speed comes in just under 1200 pounds. Or just a touch over. I do know for a fact that the assembled engine was right at 950 pounds, 2000# capacity scale hanging off a forklift.

Thanks everybody for your efforts! I get a little confused though since the figures differs quite a lot.

Reason for asking is that I'm gonna put in a 331 HEMI with a T5 gearbox and keep everything else, as far as possible (exept for bigger drumbreaks and an 8 3/4 rear end) in original shape. That means ie keeping the tube axle frontsuspension. I need to know how much extra weight this operation will add. I do not intend to lower the front suspension other than what the extra weight(?) might do.
