Phil Martin Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 Had my 50 Dodge running great then the starter kicked back and broke the housing over bendix. Seems like it is always something. I'm about ready to give up and part with it. But when it runs it really runs good and is fun to drive. Quote
DutchEdwin Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 Try rock auto. I had a faulty bendix on my 1955 plymouth. Could replace the bendix unit with a new one from them. Fitted perfectly. Quote

That's cheaper than buying and paying shipping for a new one. The same thing happened with my 39 IHC pickup about a year ago,so I welded it back up and it's still working just fine. Just make sure you use flat washers and lock washers under the bolt heads and make sure the bolts are tight to not stress the housing again. Quote
Phil Martin Posted September 16, 2013 Author Report Posted September 16, 2013 I'm going to see about having it welded. I had already put a new bendix on it and it worked good til now. Quote
