BobT-47P15 Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) Just a reminder to anyone interested. I know a certain few have turned up in Springfield in the past. Always a pleasure to meet another forum member. My friend Nils and I plan to go on Friday. If anyone is going to the swap, you can PM me for my cell number. This is also the weekend for the HAMB Drags National at MoKan speedway north of Joplin. As usual, there will be a bunch of cars at the host hotel, Holiday Inn, just off of Interstate 44. The drags will take place on Saturday afternoon/evening. The hot rod folks come here from all over the country. Edited August 17, 2013 by BobT-47P15 Quote
GlennCraven Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 I am going to try and make the swap meet from Coffeyville, Kan., but it won't be on Friday. Maybe Saturday, but more likely Sunday. Looking for a number of items for the 1949 Windsor coupe, though the list includes some LA-series small-block items (like A-body exhaust manifolds) due to the impending swap. Wish I could be over there to shake your hand Friday. I'd like to meet forum folks, too. Quote
hkestes41 Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 Bob, I will get arriving Joplin on Friday. Will you be around the Holiday in Friday evening? If so I will see you there. Unfortunately I will be in a rental not the P15. I have had my clutch out for about 6 months. Started a new position at work on April 1st which required a LOT of upfront travel. Just looked at my American Airlines account and I have taken 49 flights since starting the new position. Hasn't left much time for wrenching, that at the 100+ temperatures we have been having. Quote
james curl Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 Wasn't that cold front that came through yesterday nice, it dropped the temperature in Austin from 107 to 72 in about 45 minutes. We managed to get two tenths inch of rain out of it, could use a lot more as the highland lakes are at the lowest since the great drought of the 50s so with out rain will have a new record low level and Gov. Perry is encouraging more people to move here. Go figure that one out and he may run for president again, Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 17, 2013 Author Report Posted August 17, 2013 h k estes just called me from the MoKan Dragway and the HAMB drags. As he said above, his car is temporarily out of commission so he flew up here and rented a car. I drove thru the parking lot of the Holiday Inn late last night (Fri) and there was the usual group of rods and a few customs from all over the country. Kirk said "moose", from Massachusetts, is here with his Mopar flathead six powered Model A two door to run at the drags. He's going to get me his phone number so I can talk to him. Always nice to visit with other forum members......even if only by phone. We had an event in another town to attend last night and have a dance at the Elks lodge tonight.......so not having much time to visit and look for the drags this year. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 17, 2013 Author Report Posted August 17, 2013 Went to the Springfield swap yesterday........all I could find for a P15 was a couple of headlight rings, and a couple aftermarket replacement taillight lenses. Found a couple Chrysler wire wheel center caps that had been painted black. May or may not have decent chrome underneath. Also found one plastic blue dot taillight lense that I think fits a 50 or 51 Plymouth. It's scuffed a little but may be usable with some shining up. If anyone needs it, PM me. Will be pretty cheap. It looks like the 50 and 51 lenses are similar, or the same. But not sure. I held it up to a 50 light on a car for sale and it appeared it would fit. Quote
DJ194950 Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Did you hold it up to a 2 dr. sedan or other model? They are diff. part #'s. Might be in interested if will fit my 4 dr. Nice find either way. Thanks, Doug Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 17, 2013 Author Report Posted August 17, 2013 I first, for the pictures, held it up to the business coupe. Also held it up to this fourdoor.........looked right for it too............. 1 Quote

Nice find either way. Thanks, Doug My brother has a 50 2 door sedan (fastback). I think they are the only one's that are different, they are made in one piece (bucket, bezel, and lens). Quote

I think they are the only one's that are different, they are made in one piece (bucket, bezel, and lens). Back to the parts book: Bob's find will fit all except: p-19 2 dr. sedans(fastback style) and the wagons (all). From past experience they are also supposed to fit 4 dr. Ply. models 50-52, but do not have any books to confirm, on that pls. do your own checking. Bob, pm with a price if not already sold- It's frame is in better shape that what my current one is.. Not in any rush. Thanks for the reply. Doug Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 19, 2013 Author Report Posted August 19, 2013 There is no frame...........only the lens. The frame was attached to the biz coupe......I just held the lens up to it. Quote
Greg F Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Hk, Where have you been flying mostly? If your on a 737 and hear first officer Fernandez, make sure you stop by and say hi. If the door is closed was probably a bad landing....hehe 1 Quote

If the door is closed was probably a bad landing....hehe Greg, I cover Texas through Alabama on the south up to the Canadian border from North Dakota through Western Pennsylvania. I also cover Brazil but have not been down there in several months. All my flying has been on American since my home airport is DFW. Kind of hard to fly anything else out of that airport. Quote
