Flathead239 Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 Just picked up a '41 Plymouth Business Coupe about a month ago. Runs and drives so we are not going to change a thing. We are longtime Ford people so bare with us and the odd questions. Yesterday we were told of another Business Coupe for sale but this one is a '40. Don't know much about these cars (yet) but did notice that the hoods are different. '41 is one piece, '40 is split. Don't really care for the looks of a split hood so was wondering if it is possible to put a '41 hood on a '40 body? Any information would be greatly appreciated, at least till I learn more about these cool Plymouth's. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 I've certainly never tried it but 40-41 share basic body shells. So I would think there's a good chance of it. You might have to swap entire front clips to make it work out. Quote
BigDaddyO Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 I would think the hinge mounting and the nose latch would be the problem areas. Quote
Jstanco1940roadking Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 I have a 1940 Plymouth with the split hood and I looking for the setup that hinges the hood in the center. If you do the swap I would love to pick that up. Thanks and please let me know Quote
Flathead239 Posted August 11, 2013 Author Report Posted August 11, 2013 Thanks to everyone who gave opinions and info. I'm gonna do a little more research and see if it can be done fairly easily. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again! Quote
