Are yours oval or round?

Oval ones can be purchased from Ford parts vendors, so they tell me.

Not sure about round........

It probably did have the type with the stainless cap on them.

On mine, since the caps were kinda beat up, one chrome guy told me to use some small vice grips

and remove the caps.......then he plated the actual head of the oval type bolt.

Mine were in pretty bad shape, I removed them with a torch.

I'm sure they were round. I probably need to measure the holes to see what size the square was and the round hole in the mounts.

I can put the bumper guards on with carriage bolts, the heads are hidden inside. But 5 more need to look good.

Check with Restoration Specialties online catalogue, page 206. Most of the well know MOPAR suppliers will also likely carry them. Check the links for products. I believe they do have the stainless skin over the bolts.

Bob's right, Ford parts shops have the oval ones. I belive these below ones would be correct for D24:

http://macsautoparts.com/early-v8-ford-mercury-bumper-bolt-stainless-steel-cover-oval-head-ford-passenger-48-17758/camid/F30/cp/JS0R3CHL1072099/

Round ones should be ever easier to get, here's a pair sold at AutoZone:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Dorman-2-pcs-1-2-in-13-x-1-1-2-in-universal-stainless-steel-cap-bumper-bolt-includes-nuts-and-retainers/_/N-26qc?itemIdentifier=102817_0_0_

Also Summit Racing has affordable set of round head bolts:

Edit:

Most part chains seem to carry the Dorman bumper bolts kits, prize round $3 each, here's Advance Auto link

I called Macs auto parts today, http://macsautoparts...S0R3CHL1072099/, and they said the bolt size is 7/16 by 1 1/4 fine thread for $6.50 each. I priced Chrome Oval bolts at a swap meet Saturday and they wanted $11.00 a piece. I'd rather have the stainless ones for less money, but I'm cheap.

  :D

Update I just picked up the correct bolts at the swap meet from a Furd parts guy. They are of good quality with the stainless cap on the oval bolt head.
