Dodge Chrysler fluid drive overdrive

I have a 46 dodge and I would like to put a fluid coupler and overdrive transmission out of a 41 Chrysler in my dodge, has anyone tried this? Will the coupler from the larger flathead six fit my 230 ?

My Hollanders Interchange manual only goes back to '42, but for the '42 model it says no.

Although it looks like GTK has answered your ?

Do you have a fluid drive with the Dodge 230 engine now?

if yes, could you use just the trans from the Chrysler?

If no, then you need to move rear mounts, backward to accommodate for larger fluid drive housing, clutch rods, E brake cable  and shorter driveshaft.

Thanks for the suggestions, yes I do already have fluid drive, I experience a drive train shudder, or vibration when I checked the fluid level in the coupler I found metal filings, a lot of metal, will need a coupler and clutch, throw out brg, rear mounts, etc. I would also like easier highway speeds that's why I'm considering overdrive. Any suggestions about this conversion is highly appreciated, thank you. Ken
