brian hood Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Good evening everyone! After an almost two year absence ( my wife gave birth to twins on 4-30-10- I ve been very Pre occupied with them and working full time) I was finally to get back to my 53 b-4. I ordered a windshield gasket set from Roberts about two years ago. Today, I have a glass company come our to install the windshield. The rubber is too small and has a gap of about 1/2 inch around the horizontal ends. I don't know what to do except get rubber and more glass cut. My questions is this, has anyone used a company or a brand of rubber that they were happy with? It's been too long to reasonably expect Roberts to return it, but has anyone else has a similar problem? Brian Quote
wendleburger Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I used Steele's and it was perfect. First time I have ever installed automotive glass in my life and it went in dead easy Quote
52b3b Joe Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I just installed my front and back windshields last weekend and it went very good. I used Steele Rubber, although its not my first time putting glass in, it went in as fast as the cord pulled out. Quote
HanksB3B Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 If my wife was absent for two years, I'd have gotten a lot more done on my truck. Let's see some pictures! Hank Quote
texas275 Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I used a set from Roberts myself. No issues at all. New windshilds and everything. Did you get new windshields? As long as the glass is the same size, or the same glass is should go right back in with new rubber. I thought my new windshields were too big, but it was just a tight fit. If you got new windshields I'm betting the glass is cut wrong. Just my .02 worth. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 If Texas275 is right, the Steele rubber won't help. Quote
