austinsailor Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Ran across this. Trying to restrain myself. Don't need another car. Trying ..... http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/3261588134.html Quote
austinsailor Posted September 18, 2012 Author Report Posted September 18, 2012 I went to look it over, took it for a drive. Had a few issues like some rust in the back side of the rockers, some of the paint wasn't as good as it should have been, bondo on the fenders (owner didn't realize it, but smooth on the outside, wavy on the inside says bondo!), only oil pressure gauge worked, all needed restoring, modern drive shaft, replacement gas tank, and a little more. It would have made a nice driver, but really needed a restoration (even though someone thought they already paid for one!) to be a show car. I went $17K, car sold for $20400. Quote
1941Rick Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 The speedo cluster is interesting.....The MPH is obvious, and I assume there is a tach in there , but what is the other set of numbers for? Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Gorgeous automobile, indeed. Would be a gentlemans ride. Who can put a price for a special individual like this one? Compared to price of 3-'50 chevies I find this very reasonable, fair deal. Rick you mean THIS below picture, right? - At 1st glance I thought, the outmost set is kms per hour, then mph, inner circle rpm at 3rd gear? - but the numbers do not match... - 2nd guess: Outmost ring mph, middle rpm on 3rd gear, inner ring rpm on OD encaged? Young Ed Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 He's talking about this one. I looked at it too and can't come up with the third function or even how the needles move for the three functions. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 Ed, You replied to my original posting where I talked about the other cluster with clock in center. Then I went in the photobucket and found the right picture, thus edited my posting... However I think the dial is just one piece straight needle. The scales are set in synchro, read my "2nd guess" above. /Pekka Quote
austinsailor Posted September 19, 2012 Author Report Posted September 19, 2012 I should have looked at the speedo more while we were driving but never thought about it. If I planned to keep it for eternity I'd have bid a lot more, but I'd like to drive one for a year or two and break even moving along to another. I just didn't see it at the selling price. Gene Quote
