Hi all - we are trying to get the hood on my 47 Plymouth Club Coupe to fit nicely. It seems that the passenger side looks ok, but the driver's side is out of sorts. There is too much gap at the cowl on the driver's side both vertically and horizontally.

Anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks!

Do you know if there are left and right sided springs for the hood? It seems that the driver's side spring doesn't work either way it is put in. It it is hooked like the passenger side the spring rubs on the fender, if it is put in the opposite way the bracket hits the spring and the hood won't site properly at the cowl.

no..supposed to be equal..it is a involved process to type out again..please do the search it will benefit you..do inspect your spring mounts..make sure they are not damaged..inspect the hinges to ensure the rivet holes are not enlongated..I am assuming P15...it is the easiest to align compared to the 49-up sheetmetal..

Here's a good tip once you do get the hood aligned. I had the same problem with my 50 Ply, but once I got the hood aligned and the clearances were good and the latch worked, I tightened the bolts and drilled an 1/8" hole thru the bottom of the hinge. Then I put in an 1/8" spring pin to have as an alignment tool if the hood has to come off. With the pin there ,the hood will go on exactly where it needs to be.

I did this for the fenders as well. I got the spring pins from McMaster-Carr.
