oldodge41 Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 My wife and I took the old Dodge to a cruise in / fly in at Mid State Airport near Philipsburg, PA today. Nice event. On the way home we stopped at a convenience store for refreshments. She went in and I waited in the car. I saw this biker, a 1% type, with the proper patches etc, at the gas pumps. He sees the car and makes a bee line to me. He walks up and says "Cool car, what is it?' I told him and he proceeded to tell me about one of his "brothers" who has a "49 Dodge. Before he leaves he says "Sir, would it be ok if I took a picture?" I said it was ok and he took his photo and said "Thank you sir." He then returned to his bike.Respect is something rarely practiced anymore. I hope he gets as good as he gave. Quote
claybill Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 i am not surprised. i know the biker group....the rule....treat me as i would treat you. Quote
scottyv47 Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 speaking as a hardcore mopar guy, but also a biker, 99.9 percent of bikers are the greatest guys you'll ever meet, there basicly just like car guys but with bikes, or with both in my case Quote
Robert Horne Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 I have had a bike, Van, and a Mopar most of my life. For many years, a bike was what I rode on my vacations. I always ran into many friendly folks where ever I would go. In most cases, just show respect and that is what you will receive. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 I've never owned a bike, but in years past I was acquainted with some of our local bikers. They were always pleasant, and I think if I'd ever gotten in trouble in some bar where they were.....I'd have had plenty of help. (Thank goodness I never had to test that thought.) Quote
oldodge41 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Report Posted August 19, 2012 I am a motorcycle rider, have been for 30+ years. I know a little about the 1%er culture. I have never had an issue with these guys personally. Definitely not a lifestyle for me though. Big difference between a motorcycle enthusiast and a hard core biker. None have ever given more than a passing glance when I am on my Kawasaki. Just shows the power of an old car as a conversation starter. A lot of, so called, professionals could take a lesson in respect from this guy. Some interesting reading here for anyone interested in learning about MC's http://www.rcvsmc.net/id6.html Quote
claybill Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 i recently asked a motel owner during a m/c rally. he said that the riders leave the rooms in best condition and behave nicely..he'll take them any day...he did report that another group was always the worst with their annual convention. (no i wont tell you). bill Quote
oldodge41 Posted August 20, 2012 Author Report Posted August 20, 2012 Pictures from the show when I arrived. I didn't shoot any after most of the cars/planes arrived. Too busy shooting the breeze with a couple old friends I hadn't seen in a while, Quote
martybose Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 I wonder if the engine in the Mustang replica is a Falconer V-12, or if it is something else with some fake exhaust stacks ..... Marty Quote
