highpockets Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 I was at an auction today with a bunch of old Mopar stuff. I bought a pile of 80 vinyl records 33 1/3 rpm. They are sales, service, technician info that appears to be from the late 40s, early 50s. I'm guessing that maybe there was some film or slides or something that went along with them. Anybody here familiar with these records? I'm not sure what I am going to do with them...probably resell them. They would make cool wall decorations in somebody's garage/man cave. Or you could listen to them and get an old time education. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 They had (Chrysler) training records and films back in the day. I would think they were 78rpms back in the 40's though, but I am not sure. If you go to www.imperialclub.com, then click on imperials by year, then click on the year your interested in (say 1948), then click on imperial service conferences at the right hand box, a drop down box list hem all, you can download them all for free. The videos with the sound tracks, the booklets are all available for free. I'm sure they would look good on someone's wall as well. I would think ebay is your best bet if your looking for a return on your money. Most of us in this Forum share our information for free. Good luck on re-sell should you go that route. I'm sure there are collectors out there that would buy them. It would seem to me that they would be rare to come across. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 I have a pretty complete collection of all the MTSC training and sales filmstrips and records for 1947-1954, plus the service booklets. "Mr Tech" is the Master technichian puppet who is the star in these training kits. A all in one projector/record player was set up once a month ( new training kit came out once a month) in the dealership to train the technichians. As I recall 5-10 service booklets and quiz test pamphlets were included in the service training box along with the record and filmstrip to give to the technicians. If you were an outstanding MoPar technichian you won a "Mr Tech" award-IE a Mr Tech Lighter or a Gold Micrometer ect. Some pics.... Quote

There were a bunch of film strips at the auction also. I didn't know they went with these records, so didn't buy them. I hadn't really paid much attention to the records until they started auctioning them. It was an interesting auction. Old IH and Chrysler dealership from the 50s to the late 90s. There was tons of literature, brochures, manuals, posters and NOS parts. I bought some of the manuals and parts also. Some of that stuff really gets expensive. I paid over $100 for one manual/parts book and there were some that brought over $200. And the parts...that was like a grab bag. Boxes with little parts that you could kinda see what was on top but didn't really know what you were buying for sure. Most of the parts I bought seem to be from the late 60s, early 70s, but I did see some brake parts from late 40s early 50s. I will sort them all out soon. Thanks again for the info. Quote
