rtlsnakedaddy Posted January 15, 2014 Author Report Posted January 15, 2014 It's been a while with the '54, so I thought I would add some photos. Floors and rockers are in. Drivers door is patched and ready for primer. We'll need to pull the front and rear windows next. They are all filled with tons of sealer that someone used to try to stop a leak. I've seen a few places that supply new window seals, and list the '54 chryslers. Does anyone have experience with a supplier they would recommend? Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted August 2, 2014 Author Report Posted August 2, 2014 Staying with this original thread here, even though progress is slow. I managed to find another '54 2 door nearby missing its doors. This one is in a little worse shape, but has some good parts I can pull. Wish I had the space to keep it around. ] Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted February 14, 2015 Author Report Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) A bit more cutting and replacing metal. The drivers side os comming together, moving over to the rear end. The parts car donated much of its trunk floor for it. [/url] Edited April 22, 2016 by rtlsnakedaddy Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted March 29, 2015 Author Report Posted March 29, 2015 Slowly stripping down to bare metal. A few more pic's. 1 Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted April 21, 2016 Author Report Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) A bit of an update on the Chrysler. We're still plugging away at it, and things are picking up quite a bit. I'm trying to find replacement seals and molding, but am coming up short on ones for the rear quarter glass vents. I may have to buy and modify something to make it work. pflaming Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 What a challenge, I'm sure glad it's you. That will be quite a car when finished. I've only seen one 50's Chrysler on the streets anywhere. That was a deep blue four door in Cambria, CA years ago. It was the 'brides' car at a small historic church. Lots of folk looked at that car. Quote
John Reddie Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Great body fabrication. Nice rare car for sure. John R Quote
captden29 Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 snake, great work on the Windsor. I have the same car in a convertible. they are rare as they just were not saved. not very collectible today. you will always be the only one at any car show, probably for 100 miles around.i am trying to do my universals, and they are a rare part.so far no luck locally and the one source I found wants my first born for them.many parts are easy to get, some are the proverbial hens teeth.are you still looking for the clock? I have one from a 53 but it will fit your car. let me know. capt den Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted April 23, 2016 Author Report Posted April 23, 2016 Thanks, I found a clock in a parts bin, and picked it up. The chrome is gone from the bezel and it needs a rebuild, but the price was right, and I thought if all else fails..... the more I think on it though, I'm digging the basic no frills dash. RSD Quote
captden29 Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 I had a sedan and it had the radio delete plate, no clock.i finally got to liking the look and left it that way. capt den Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted May 26, 2016 Author Report Posted May 26, 2016 A bit of an update. Things have been progressing slowly. All of the rust has been removed from the passenger side, and metal is starting to go back on. We pulled the front end and sent off to media blasting in order to see what is usable or needs replacement. The rear fender flare that was made off the car doesn't quite fit, so it needs some love to get into shape. While the front end is off, I hope to be able to get in and paint some of the motor while accessible. I started stripping the firewall for paint as well, and have blasted and repainted some of the smaller items that could fit in a friends blasting cabinet. Still, nice to see some progress... 2 Quote
