I started my car up this afternoon. I had pulled the manifolds and took care of the exhaust by pass issue. No Leaks!!! Of course I forgot the heat shield and had to go back and put that on.

I did see some steam coming off of the right side of my radiator towards the top. ??? Is this normal? Nothing was leaking that I could see.

I am no mechanic. This is the most work I have ever done to a car besides some oil changing and a little bit of maintenance here and there. All of you folks here have been a great help. I could not have done it without this help. Muchas Gracias, Eric

That's great Eric. As far as steam, smoke, funny noises, let it run a bit, drive it if possible, and a lot of that stuff may just go away. After working on a motor hand-to-hand, you could have oily handprints on manifolds, excess water on the radiator core after filling, etc.

If it's a real problem it will persist.

Norm, I got some strange smoke from the anti-seize goop but it dissipated pretty quick. I had to cut off the exhaust pipe fron the manifold to the muffler. The nuts were too frozen to deal with and I didn't want to get a torch that close to the car. I ran it in the garage and used a fan to blow the fumes outside. Still not a real safe thing to do. Thanks, Eric

Doing things that are not 100% safe and proper things to do is part and parcel of messing with old cars! :P

I run my car in the garage at times..in the paint booth is where I store it when not painting anything...use the exhaust fan when I do so. Same with the motorcycles as I rarely take them out on the road either..but they get started once in awhile. Would never do this without the exhaust fan for sure.
