wayfarer Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Does anyone have an NP420 and/or NP435 laying loose and could take a couple of measurements? Bearing retainer diameter, location of splines from the front of the main case, and length to end of pilot. Trying to help a fellow who wants to put an early 331 Hemi in a 55 ½ ton. Quote
Dan Babb Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Tell him its too much work and to hop up the flat 6 instead! Quote
wayfarer Posted March 6, 2012 Author Report Posted March 6, 2012 Well Dan, ya know how it is when somebody gets an idea stuck in their head...:D The truck has a dead Poly and he just got an amazing deal on a 51-331 and he wants to use a truck 4-speed trans... To each his own. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Quick rough measurements of the spare 4 speed from a B3C has the bearing retainer at 4.75". It's 3.5" from the face of the trans to the end of the retainer, the splines start just after that for 2" and it's around 7.75" from the face of the trans to the end of the shaft. Merle Quote
