TheMoose Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 is this a 6 Volt Halogen bulb? If so beware! These were in my 53' tail lights & I began having problems, after a lot of head scratching I found the bulbs had welded themselves to the wiring in the mount. I really liked the brightness of the Halogens but it looks like they get way too hot so I'll be sticking with good old 1154 bulbs from now on. Quote
TodFitch Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Yes, that is a quartz-halogen bulb. I've wondered about the heat and if it might crack the original glass lens from the heat. Never occurred to me to wonder about the temperature ratings of the contacts in the connector.... Quote
TheMoose Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Posted January 10, 2012 This had me messed up for a while, I was sure it was a ground problem because it was so random, it would work then stop, one would work but the other wouldn't, etc. Cleaned the connectors & put in a couple if 1154 bulbs & all is well again. 1940_dodge Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 How did you get the socket cleaned out if they had fused? Quote
TheMoose Posted January 11, 2012 Author Report Posted January 11, 2012 How did you get the socket cleaned out if they had fused? Got out the soldering gun & cleaned the connections up. Quote
