Jim Saraceno Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I was just looking at my Photobucket account. They must have changed things because now we can upload a full gig of pictures (for free). With that much room, I could probably upload all the pictures I took of my engine rebuild. There are a bunch of them and I have used them for my own reference but I'm not sure if they would be of any interest to anyone else. If it was of any interest to anyone, it would be people on this board and the POC group. If you're interested go to: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v76/JImCno/57%20Engine%20Teardown/ If anyone would like me to continue, let me know. It would probably take a few months at the rate I'm going to get all the pictures online but I'd be happy to do it if it will help anyone. (The way Don Coatney's pictures have helped me!) Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 good job, I find it hard for me to do the work, take the pictures, then label them afterword. What are you plans? Cam grind? Quote
PatS.... Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Nice pics Jim. I like watching progress reports because it maintains my enthusiasm to watch others going through what I am and I like seeing the different approaches to the same problems. Keep it up, they are appreciated. Pat Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 JIM; your pictures look good and I am glad my pictures helped you. Quote
blueskies Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Jim- Looks like you may have some of those "special" relieved pistons in your block, like some of the rest of us found in ours... Looking forward to your progress. Pete Quote

PatS.... Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I had some piston issues as well I'm sure they'll buff right up though... Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 Holy cow Pete! Good eye! Yes I did have one of those special pistons, but how could you tell from those pictures? Quote
blueskies Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Holy cow Pete! Good eye! Yes I did have one of those special pistons, but how could you tell from those pictures? Just looked familiar.... Here's a shot of my 218, just after pulling the head. Notice #2 and #6... Turned out that all six were in the same shape, just 2 and 6 had broken through. The top ring was all but gone in these two holes. Top ring in the rest was broken into bits. Notice the polished bit of ring here that looks like a bead. Pete Quote
