Byronb3b Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 I'm not sure why, but I decided now was the time to replace my cracked side window and the window channel and the vent wing rubber and all the rest of that good stuff. Question; has anyone purchased the vent wing rubber from Roberts or Steele? Any opinions on quality and fit would be appreciated. Thanks Byron Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 I bought all my rubber moldings from Steele. I haven't installed them yet, but they look top notch. Merle Quote
Bill pilot99 Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I used Steel Rubbers, they worked great, had to use some lub to get them in the frame. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I bought my vent wing rubber from Andy B. I know a lot of people complain about the way they get treated there and the quality of the rubber, including me. However, the vent wing rubber did fit and it's still looks good after about 7 years. The fuel filler tube rubber is another story though. It's cracking and also had a flat spot on the outside of the ring when new. I will add, the vent wing rubber is probably the most difficult piece to put on the car. Took me a little while too, but the fit and once I got the first one on, the other side went faster and easier. Someone mentioned using grease to make them slide better. Not sure I agree with that since it's hard to get grease off rubber. Baby powder works great and is a lot cleaner and easier to get off later. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Go-Jo or a similar hand cleaner without pumice works great to lubricate rubber during installation. It will dry up after a while, or washes off easly with water. But tthe rubber will be VERY slippery. Merle Quote
grady hawkins Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I used Silicone spray on mine and it also worked fine and the rubber was from Andy B Grady Quote
Vintrader Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I got all my rubber window parts from Robert's. They all seemed a little to large. I had to have all the glass cut smaller, but after that it all went together OK. Hope this helps. Dutch Quote
Jim Shepard Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 I purchase everything except the vent rubber from Steele. The vent rubber I got from Roberts because I couldn't get the Steele vent rubber to fit (see pics). I even called Steele and talked with them. They said they had never had a complaint, although admitted they don't get much action on Dodge trucks. The Roberts rubber went on slicker 'en snot. Quote
