Rocker Molding Help..fast please

Ok first I only have 5 rocker molding clips for my '48 P15 special deluxe. I need help finding 5 more with in a week or less.

Second, I need to know how the molding connects to the car? It fits but does not stay.

Third, how does the trim clip on to the molding? Do they slide on like the other clips or hook on the car first? These are killing me. Thanks.

From what I have you slide the clip on and then the keeper clip is the one that holds the trim on the front fenders. The ones on the rocker (On mine) have the clip on first and then attach to the body. Then bolt the clip at the front fender (Each side). The clips that I have along the rocker have spring loaded tabs that hold in the top and bottom of the slots in the rockers. You might get expidited shipping from an ebay seller but you will pay!

If you have the slots on your rockers this is what they could look like. I guess there are a couple of different types of clips but this is what I have.

Hope this helps you. :D

I would have offered up my clips but as you can see they are ugly. I will be purchasing clips for mine if I put the lower trim on.

Anyone have any pics of the clips I need with the dimensions? I need to email Restoration Specialy back with a pic and dimensions ASAP. Thanks.

If they have these please send me a PM. I asked a while back and nobody had these.

Tks & Good Luck, Chet...

That is what I have. How do get them to stay on the car?

I dont have the slots in the rockers right now since I have recently replaced my rockers so I cant show you on the car. The Idea is to put the springy end of the 2 tabs on the clip in first then push lightly to compress it and get the other tab into the slot. When you ease off the springy part will help hold the other tab up into the body. You may want to give it a light push the same direction the springy part goes so you seat the other clip into the body. If you have older clips you may need to bend that springy end a little to get enough pressure against everything. The one shown in the pic is collapsed all the way. Take one of your clips and try it on the car. That will help give you an idea of what you need to to when the moulding is on it. Hope this helps.

Sorry,

I have been looking for these for two years. Sorry I didn't hesitate to hit the Buy-it-now button.

you need to be very careful. I ended up buying 2 different sets before I got a set that fit. And they are old, used, and a bit worn. I still can't figure out how to get them on. I'm afraid of breaking something. I've got some pictures if I can find them. I'm not sure what the difference is but people swore they were for a 46 and they were different and didn't fit.

Don,

You are so right. I generally don’t trust the description that accompanies most items on ePay, but with these clips they look reasonable correct so I took a chance. When I took my car apart I thought these clips were readily available so I tossed the few old ones I had. Big mistake.., I will never do that again until I have the replacement in hand.

There is no telling if these clips will actually work until I get them in hand. Fingers crossed. The other alternative is fabricate something.
