Guest fordodgeconnections Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 Anyone ever notice stress cracks on the frame (first beam back from cab)? Would a simple weld work for this? Thanks!!!!!! Quote
Guest Kuster13 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 crack first. My frame was cracked at of the crossmember where the forward spring perch mount to the frame. The crossmember was welded across the top and years of work probably cracked the frame. Tom Quote
Guest fordodgeconnections Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Thanks for that tip! I would have never thought of that. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I had a crack in exactly the same place, on the passengers side. I just welded it up. Didn't know about drilling a hole at the end of the crack. Quote
Guest fordodgeconnections Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I had the guy at the service station weld mine up today. It was on both sides just on the top. Cost me a whole $30. Very happy to support local business here in this little town. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 My B3-B has a crack underneath on drive place, near steering gear box.Its side rail was all bent. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 My truck frame is OK, but the parts truck I recently got was welded on both sides and a new cross member fabricated out of rectangular tube. It sure looks like a hack job. My welding isn't very good, but I think I could have done better than that. Both sides are the same way. Glad this one isn't the one I'm rebuilding. The pictures don't do it justice. It's been welded top and bottom that I can see. Merle Quote
