Lee Exline Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I was asked by the bank to do a review and give a preliminary auction estimate on the collection. I have over 400 pictures of the cars to sort through but here are some just to give you an idea of the job ahead. All of the cars are basically untouhed for the last 14 years until they were hauled from the farm were they were collected to this secure storage facility where they are being cleaned, detailed and everyone so far that they have tried has started up and ran. but there are a lot more to go. As you can see the birds and general farm dust have got the best of them and one of the barns had a racoon problem. When Chris was alive he would keep the varmits away from them, but he has been gone a while. Quote

Lee Exline Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 After one hell of a lot of work I have the 402 images sorted, a homepage built and 32 subpages (all hand written HTML) I still do not have the descriptions done but the images are sorted and linked to the appropriate subpages. So get some plastic wrap for your keyboard to catch the drool and click the link below. I realize that a lot of the shots are not very good because the building is dark and the cars are packed in tight, Oh yeah and they are filthy! I will be adding more images later when they get all of the detailing done I will be making another trip. Plus the guy that is detailing them is video taping each car and I will load those videos along with videos of the cars running or failing to run) but so far everyone they have cleaned has started. But there is a lot of work left to do! Here is the link! the main page Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I saw a picture of this hotrod last week and couldn't figure out where he got the grille. Mystery solved. Quote
blueskies Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 the main page What a cool car.... Earl Edgerton's crew chief has one, a '33. If I remember right, there were only about 600 of them made in this configuration, making them super rare. He uses his for a push/tow vehicle on the salt, which I think is perfect. Pete Quote
Lee Exline Posted April 8, 2007 Author Report Posted April 8, 2007 It took a while but I finally got the basic descriptions typed out!! Binder Desoto collection main page Boy I wish I would have woke up and listened during typing class in highschool! I remember telling the teacher that I did not plan on being a secretary so I did not need to learn how to type! Jump forward 30 years and I am typing every day. Quote
greg g Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 Yer showing yer age if they still called it Typing Class and it was for girls in the business (read secretarilal studies) classes (yea it's what I took also) nowadays students take Keyboarding, abit more gender friendly isn't it??? Quote
Lee Exline Posted April 8, 2007 Author Report Posted April 8, 2007 I generally use the religious method of typing! "seek and ye shal find" I used to type with 6 fingers (2 on the left 4 on the right) but then I cut my left index finger top mostly off last year! They sewed it back on but it still does not work right. Quote
Lee Exline Posted May 26, 2007 Author Report Posted May 26, 2007 I finally got the word from the bank that all of the legalities are taken care of and the collection will be going to auction. The beneficiary, the auctioneer and myself will be meeting shortly to set a date (probably some time in October) As soon as I get a date I will let eveyone know! I will also be looking for a place for everyone to get together the night before the sale and have dinner and some social time! Quote
