aero3113 Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 I noticed that after driving the base of my carb is wet and is staining my intake manifold. I checked the float height and all is good (5/64). If I change the accelerator pump setting will that help? Right now it is set on the middle setting. Also this is the first time my manifold heat valve is working can this have anything to do with it (Warm fuel)? Quote
55 Fargo Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Try 1/8 or 8/64, this was suggested by Greg G on another like minded thread. I am having carb problems too Keith, easy flooding, when cold and warmed up, have not found anything on search topics, to remedy this as of yet. I really am not sure what to do with my carb yet, is this a problem with todays modern gasoline? Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Nature of the beast. Both carburetors on my engine have weeped fuel from day one. Quote
aero3113 Posted May 1, 2011 Author Report Posted May 1, 2011 I just lowered it to about an 1/8th, I will take a drive later and let you know what I see. The carb was bone dry before the rebuild. Quote

P-12 Tommy Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 The base of mine is stained too. It hasn't weeped fuel since I rebuilt my carb. (crossing my fingers) Tom Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Original color is unknown to me. I have seen brown, black, grey, and red under the current blue. Quote
aero3113 Posted May 1, 2011 Author Report Posted May 1, 2011 Before I went for 10 mile drive I sprayed the carb with brake cleaner to dry it up then touched up the intake manifold. After the drive it was as dry as could be . Looks like 1/8 was a good setting, thanks Fred . Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 If the problem comes back, you might have a leak in your float. Quote
