48Dodger Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 My heart goes out to Japan. Last year I created a youtube channel which deals only with our era of truck. The uploaded views have an option called "insight". It lets you look at the viewing history and what country they are from. I never thought of Japan as a country that would have people who are interested in the same trucks I am. Maybe its because of the small car world that comes from the Japanese automakers....maybe its because I haven't let myself move forward from the early 70's, when muscle cars became "gas gusslers".....maybe I just didn't really give it enough thought. Their history of baseball is as old as ours.....they used the machinery left over from the war to build an automotive power house that redefined our own. They have grown into our love of stock car racing and have built a full size truck. Why would I be surprised people from Japan are watching and enjoying videos about the same old trucks I love so much? We should all be proud of the things we make, especially if it helps someone get to where they are going, be it the hospital, or to work. Watching the images unfold today.....I felt pain....not only because we are human, but because we do share so much in common.....I realize that more today than ever.... My heart truly goes out Japan. 48D Quote
buds truck Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 well said, my heart goes out to them too. We had an exchange student from there. Luckily, she is safe. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 We left a lot of Dodge trucks behind after WWII ithroughout Asia. I am suprised at the people from all over the world that come to the DPETCA site and download the manuals. It tells me there is still a lot of interest in our old trucks. I watched broadcasts of Japan's devistation on BBC. I was amazed at the power of the tsunami, And felt very sorry for the whole country and it's people. Quote
HanksB3B Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Kotoro's home town is Chiba. While his parents are o.k. Looking at the devastation makes me realize that while the most important thing is life (and that's certainly something to be thankful for) I can't help think how many survivors have lost everything they own. Even if your house is standing there's not much left. My prayers go out to them. Heartbreaking, Hank Quote
