Robert Thornton Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 (edited) Does any one have a good pic of shifter linkage in neutral. I have a 1952 b3b with 3 on the tree. I can move lower control up and down but when I pull in to shift to reverse selector will not move. have taken apart to clean and inspect. the steering column was turned to the left 1/4 I straightened so the bolt at bottom is straight across. thanks for your help. robert Edited February 22, 2011 by Robert Thornton Quote
HanksB3B Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) It's the silly little part that the column shift shift lever attaches to on the steering column. Looks kind of like an acorn. Once you remove the two screws that attaches it to the column you'll notice the part acts as a fulcrum for the column shift lever itself and is adjustable. Note where it was for future reference, clean it up as years of grit and dried out grease will make it hard to turn. Use new grease so it threads in and out easily and experiment with it either out or in further than the original position. I'll bet that'll do it. Hank P.S. If it works, you owe me (or yourself really) Please cut the bolts used to attach the wood rails on your beautiful truck's beautiful bed so they only protrude a tiny bit from the nut. They bother me as I picture ripping a brand new pair of blue jeans just below a*s level. Edited February 23, 2011 by HanksB3B Quote

Maybe Robert was going to shorten up them extra long bolts and put chromed Acorn nuts on those protruding studs! It'll would be so nice! Quote
Robert Thornton Posted February 26, 2011 Author Report Posted February 26, 2011 I Have taken shifter all a part screwed that acorn top to bottom. I have it as low as it will go but shifter selector lever just will not move more than 1 to 2 in I did notice the part that is mounted on post that moves selector up and down had spread out and had a flat spot on bottom found another on in my parts rusty but looks good helped a little but not enough to get in reverse or first. Also noticed the flat spring on column top shifter arm is missing. It is a flat piece with a hole in one end and a c cut out of the other it shows in book but I bet it will be hard to find. thanks again for all you're help Robert Quote
HanksB3B Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 The only other thing it can be is the length of the adjustable linkage itself. When I disassembled everything I marked where it was and returned it to that position so I can't tell you longer or shorter. It' a fiddle around with it thing. I trust you'll figure it out.
